BIOGRAPHY

Austin Toole is a native of Los Angeles, where he and his wife live. He is graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in Healthcare Administration and is applying to medical school. Austin is working towards a dual Master of Healthcare Administration or Public Health, MD degree. He intends to practice in Emergency and Trauma care initially, and eventually in an administrative or healthcare policy-making capacity.

While attending class full time at Loma Linda University, Austin also works full time in the healthcare field. Austin is a respected member of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) community and has worked as a paramedic for the last 15 years. He spends much of his time in the field, serving the community of San Bernardino County, most recently as a full-time EMS educator in Riverside County. As one of the co-investigators of a clinical trial, Austin is also testing the feasibility of implementing ultrasound technology in the field of EMS.

Through Austin’s work in the county of San Bernardino, he discovered Loma Linda University. And while working in the Loma Linda University emergency department, compassionately and expertly applying medical care to patients, he became interested in taking his next professional step with Loma Linda University.

In his personal time, Austin loves to travel and explore nature with his wife. He has traveled extensively through Europe and Asia, and he has backpacked the John Muir Trail from Yosemite to Mt. Whitney.

The Health Informatics, Information Management and Administration department is honored to present the 2021 Rising Star Award to Austin Toole.
