BIOGRAPHY

Shelley graduated with high honors as a certified Occupational Therapist assistant, working in the field while she completed an entry-level Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2011. She describes herself as a creative thinker, skilled leader and a seasoned team player – all which have been confirmed by her many colleagues and employers. Shelley has very diverse work experiences, including the National Teletherapy Resources, THRIVE Pediatrics, and skilled nursing and acute care. Her passions include leadership and a commitment to service for others. Currently she serves as the co-chair of the International Adventist Occupational Therapy Network. Based on Facebook, the group provides a networking platform for Seventh-day Adventist practitioners and students of Occupational Therapy. Group members receive support and advice for their particular issues. Shelley is also an advisory board member of the Wellness Warehouse Center. This organization works to empower the community to be the best version of itself, and it has partnered with the CarePortal and TURN to allow additional resources to help those in need in Riverside County. Shelley has also served on the La Sierra Academy School Board and coordinated the children’s activity and ministries for the La Sierra University Church. She participates in numerous mission trips with her family and friends to share her love of Jesus Christ. Shelley’s clear commitments to the OT profession and to her community, both locally and globally, make us proud. The Occupational Therapy department is pleased to present the 2021 Distinguished Alumna Award to Shelley Leonor.
