BIOGRAPHY

Richard Aguilar earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Healthcare Administration in 2014 from Loma Linda University (LLU). His experience with university advisors and educators guided his decision to return to LLU and earn a Master’s of Public Health in 2016. Richard felt encouraged and driven by LLU's motto: "To Make Man Whole." After completing his education at LLU he continued his studies at the University of Arizona to earn a Master’s of Art in International Security Studies, graduating in the top 10% of his class. His family motto is: "Love others, Help others, Protect others – and yourself, if you must – and Lead others." He internalized these values from his time at Loma Linda, and he and his wife teach this motto to their three young sons. He encourages those around him to develop and live by their own mottos. Richard works with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health as an Outbreak Investigator, helping to prevent and contain COVID-19. He focuses on employee health and safety within businesses struggling with outbreaks. His education from LLU provided the foundation he needs to educate the people he encounters. His mission is to protect them during this trying time. Richard recently completed his application for LLU’s Doctor of Public Health in Health Education program. His passion has always been to protect those who can't protect themselves. His goal is to become a leader in the prevention of human trafficking. He is also pursuing a career in law enforcement, where he feels that he will have the most direct impact while providing a unique perspective with his public health background. The Health Informatics, Information Management, and Administration department is honored to present the 2021 Distinguished Alumnus Award to Richard Aguilar.
