BIOGRAPHY
With a background in Public Relations, Danielle Newcombe joined the 2015 Transitional Master’s degree program in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CMSD). During the three years that Danielle was in our department, she consistently engaged with her professors, supported her classmates, and was willing to go the extra mile. Danielle also travelled to China on a group service mission trip, where she found her love of working with children with feeding difficulties.
After graduating with a 4.0 in 2018, Danielle accepted a job in North Carolina. There she started using her personal blog as a space to provide a glimpse of her profession, specifically the good and bad of Speech-Language Pathology life. Transferring this real-SLP-life content to an Instagram account, she accumulated 10,000 followers. Danielle now engages with SLPs and students alike, offering relevant information, encouragement, and mentorship.
Since day one in the CMSD program, Danielle knew she wanted to pursue her clinical doctorate degree in Speech Pathology. When God called her to move to Indiana, she realized it was the right time to pursue this path. In addition to work and her doctorate, Danielle participates in a graduate school mentoring campaign, supervises student clinicians, and broadcasts live on her Instagram feed. She continues to develop resources for newer SLPs and is working on a presentation for her local police department to raise awareness on the various communication styles and disorders they may encounter.
Danielle’s passion, energy, and positivity are shining as a recent alumna. We are so proud of her impact already and are confident she will continue to shine!
The Communication Sciences and Disorders department is honored to present the 2021 Rising Star Award to Danielle Newcombe.
